Privacy policy
The short version: we keep what we need to run our shops, and nothing more.
Who we are
Southside Stores runs the stores listed on this website and is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us on hello@southside-stores.example or 0121 496 0412.
When you shop with us
- What you buy - the items, prices, time and how you paid are recorded at the till so we can keep our shelves stocked, handle refunds and keep our accounts. This isn’t linked to your name.
- Card payments are processed by our card terminal provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- Email receipts - if you ask for one, we use your email address only to send that receipt.
- Age checks - for age-restricted products we may ask to see ID. We look at it; we don’t copy or keep it.
This website
The public pages don’t use advertising or tracking cookies and don’t ask for personal details. Staff who sign in to our stock system get a single sign-in cookie that keeps them signed in; it isn’t used for anything else.
Our staff
Staff accounts hold a name, role, store and a scrambled (hashed) PIN. The system records which account made each sale or stock change, so our records are accurate and accountable.
The system behind this website
Our tills, stock and this website run on StockTill, a product of Automation Bureau Ltd (company no. 17479795, 17 Navigation Road, Birmingham B38 9EF), which hosts and processes this information on our behalf and uses it for nothing else.
How long we keep things
Sales and stock records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires (normally six years), then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Contact us on hello@southside-stores.example or 0121 496 0412. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
